Our Story
The Lowe's Guardian Angel (or “LGA”) story begins from the heart.
Lucy Brown of Sumter South Carolina was a nurse at Toumey hospital in the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She had a heart for taking care of those in need of help especially the elderly and disabled. In 1983 she left the hospital to open Brown's Rest Home which she ran until her death.
Her daughter Windy Lowe, after working with her for many years, decided to carry the torch in Atlanta GA, leaving a successful corporate career to start Lowe’s Guardian Angel (LGA) to continue the work that her mother began. She started LGA in 2005 with her husband First Sergeant (retired) Glenn Lowe and her sons Alonzo Q. Ford and Antwaun G. Lowe. They began with one facility, 2 employees, and 2 clients…later growing their organization to 5 locations and 50+ employees and volunteers.
In 2021, Alonzo Q. Ford became CEO of LGA while Windy & Glenn Lowe stepped down to retire, travel, spend time with grandkids, and advise the company entering its next chapter. “This company began with the calling of Windy Lowe to serve the underserved,” said Ford, who became CEO in the 2nd Quarter of 2021. “Guided by that mission, we are poised for transformational growth through unprecedented collaboration and strategic mergers and acquisitions. Together with our industry partners, we can help multitudes of seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities live their best lives with exceptional care.”
